Casefile 005 - Video
[Have some accidental video, Johto. The video is a bit staticy, but it's still clear enough to make out a burned, crumbling ceiling; sunlight lancing down through the gaps in bright shafts. About half of Harry's face is visible, and he seems to be trying to do something with the gear. The video occasionally winks out for an instant, each time preceded by the sound of a button on Harry's gear being pressed.]
[For some reason, the sound is continuous, if a bit distorted by static.]
-'s try not to be here too long, I don't have a lot of luck with buildings like this.
Smoo.
Though at least I can say without irony- "Sweet Kiss"? That's just wrong. -that it was like that when we got here.
Chu!
No, there's just sort of history with me and- look, it's a long story.
Smoo-chu~
Oh come on, it was hardly ever actually MY fau-
RATTATA!
SMOO!
HELL'S BE-
[The feed cuts out abruptly.]
[The wild Rattata shoots out from a pile of ashen debris, streaking at Lara. Harry manages to yank the Smoochum out of harm's way, just barely. The passing Quick Attack leaves a nasty scrape across the back of his hand.]
[It's this, partially, that allows Lara to twist out of his grasp and land to face the Rattata, a determined grin on her face. Or as much as a Smoochum can manage.]
Smoo-CHUM!
Oh stars and stones- ah-
[Harry's been trying to figure out this battling thing as he's been traveling. The information on the Gear is frustratingly vague, but he thinks he's got the gist by now.]
Uh, Lara! Lick attack!
[Lara delivers a devastating, paralyzing Lick to the Rattata... which does precisely nothing. Meet the Normal type, Harry. Specifically, it's immunity to Ghost attacks.]
[The Rattata's response is a fierce Pursuit attack that sends Lara sprawling. She struggles to her feet, apparently enjoying this despite getting a Dark type attack to the face. Unsteadily, she runs at the Rattata, to Harry's dismay.]
Oh, hell- ah, POUND!
[Calling out attacks seems patently ridiculous, but it seems to work. Lara's -fists? seems a bit inappropriate, but it's the closest Harry can come up with- slam into the Rattata, knocking it back a bit. It seems more annoyed than hurt, however, and sends off another lighting-fast Quick Attack at Lara, flattening her.]
[The Rattata rounds again on the fallen Smoochum, charging with its massive teeth bared for a Bite attack.]
NO YOU DON'T-
[The Rattata's Bite is met with Harry's back, crouching over Lara. The rat Pokémon scrabbles up to Harry's shoulders, trying to attack his head and neck. Harry attempts to bat it away with moderate success.]
[Fortunately, the re-enactment of the alternate ending to '1984' is interrupted by Lara scrambling up over Harry's shoulders as well, delivering a rather more effective Pound. The Rattata is knocked off Harry, Lara leaping down after it.]
Lara-
[Desperate times...]
SWEET KISS!
SMOOCHUM!
[The Rattata's next charge is met with Lara planting one solidly on its face, her lips seeming to glow slightly as they briefly threaten to overtake its entire face. The wild Pokémon stumbles back, thoroughly confused and running in circles, trying to find something to attack. Lara delivers another vindictive Pound, a bit more effective now that the Rattata seems to be fighting its own tail.]
[Harry scrabbles inside his bag for a moment, dropped when the Rattata attacked, before spinning and lobbing a Pokeball like a baseball. It hits the Rattata with a flash of light, clicking shut. Rattling briefly once, twice, three times... and falling silent with a soft 'bing'.]
[Lara picks up the Pokéball triumphantly, holding it over her head like a trophy.]
Smoo!
Yeah. That was great. Let's never do that again.
[When the feed clicks back on, it shows Harry sitting with his back to a wall, looking thoroughly beat up and dusty. Lara is flopped contentedly across his head, looking exhausted, and a slightly-tattered Rattata is looking curiously up into the Gear from Harry's lap. As Harry reaches up to absentmindedly scratch its head, the large, ugly scrape across the back of his hand can be easily seen.]
So, this thing basically tries to kill me. Lara beats it up, and I stuff it into a little airtight ball... and now we're friends or something.
Ratt-a.
I think it bears repeating at this point... this place is WEIRD.
[Another absentminded scratch behind the Rattata's ears.]
I think I'm gonna call her Frisby.
Ta-tta.
[For some reason, the sound is continuous, if a bit distorted by static.]

Couldn't really tell the difference with the fish.

Re: [voice]
[There's another bit of static as Harry digs out a Pokeball. He lightly tosses it out past the range of the camera, and winces a bit at the flash of light.]
Fish.
[The camera spins around, focusing on a patch of floor in front of Harry -- now containing a Magikarp sadly flopping in place and making 'karp' sounds'. The Rattata hops down and sniffs at it curiously.]
No change from before I caught it, that I can tell. Kinda worried it might be brain-damaged, to tell the truth.
Re: [voice]
Re: [voice] I JUST realized this was tagged as voice, not video. >.<
Re: [voice] It can be voice on Shelly's end and video on yours!
Re: [voice] Whatever works is good.

Re: [voice]
...It's not going to start, ah, loving my leg, is it?
[So much do not want.]

I dunno, this one doesn't seem to MIND...
You'd be able to tell if they did, right?
Re: video;
Re: video;
...as long as I don't start waking up to find decapitated mice on my bed, then.
No, not you...
Re: video;
Re: video;
No, that is NOT a challenge!
Re: video;
[He goes off camera for a few minutes, and spends most of that time coaxing something named Juggernaut to come to him. When he comes back, he's carrying and Aron. ... Well, more like trying to carry.]
This is Juggernaut. His diet's mostly made of metal, so I need to look for a lot of scraps just to feed him. The thing is, he eats way too much for his size, and then throws up after. [Maybe you can tell where he's going with this, Harry.]
Re: video;
Also, ew.

... Is this the first time you actually battled, Harry?
[Video?]
[Video! I should remember to mark these things.]

Re: [Video]
...you're the second person to mention evolution.
[Video]
Well--- It's inevitable unless your pokémon can't evolve, you know? Or they don't train for it.
